I enjoy creating portraits that incorporate beautiful, fantastical imagery that enhances the subject's personality and mood.
Ink, watercolor, pencil, marker portraits
When I was in college, we had an assignment to draw a self-portrait. So I did; I drew my face. The other students created imaginings of how they wanted to be perceived. My portrait, although the best likeness in the class, was the most boring and overlooked.
I learned a big lesson that day. When given the opportunity, draw what you feel, not just what you see. People respond to the emotion and heart in a piece. I hope that can be felt in my work.
